Luteolin is a naturally occurring compound found in foods including peanut shell, parsley, artichoke leaves and celery. It is proposed that Luteolin has anticancer properties including induction of cancer cell apoptosis, cell cycle arrest, inhibition of cancer cell proliferation, and antiangiogenesis activity. Cell treatment with the flavonoid markedly diminished the extent of cellular protein phosphorylation, by effectively modulating protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) activities, including that of EGFR.
