Phosphoserine phosphatase is a phosphohydrolase which catalyses the hydrolysis of that metabolizes the conversion of L-phosphoserine to L-serine. It requires a divalent cation such as Mg2+ for maximal activity and the hydrolysis of D- and L-phosphoserine is inhibited by L-, but not D-serine. No protein phosphatase activity has ever been reported for PSP. PSP plays a role in proliferation of embryonic and adult neural progenitors, at least partly through regulation of L-serine production. Protein Informations: Phosphoserine Phosphatase is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 225 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 25 kDa. PSPH was overexpressed in E. coli and purified by conventional chromatography. Protein concentration: 1.0 mg/ml, Purity: > 95% by SDS PAGE
