Tumor Necrosis Factor- Alpha (TNF-alpha), also known as TNF ligand superfamily member 2 (TNFSF2) and cachectin is a human recombinant protein consisting of 158 amino acids with a MW of 17.5 kDa. TNF-alpha is a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the regulation of immune cells and is capable of inducing apoptotic cell death. TNF-alpha is naturally produced by activated macrophages, monocytes, T cells, NK cells, and neutrophils in response to infection.
TNF-alpha can be used in a variety of applications including cytotoxicity, cell proliferation assays, and assessing apoptotic and viral protection.
