This kit is used to conveniently measure the amounts of HIV-1 Gag p24 antigen in cell culture medium and of the lentivirus vectors derived from HIV-1 by a sandwich ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) method. Since p24 antigen is a structural protein of HIV-1, the virus amounts in the sample can be directly calculated based on the p24 titration. This kit utilizes a sandwich ELISA method with a biotinylated antibody and a peroxidase-labeled streptavidin for detection. The kit measures p24 of subtype AE with the same sensitivity as subtype B because it uses an affinity purified polyclonal antibody raised against the full length recombinant p24.
